Domestic violence investigation leads to several charges
On Saturday, following an investigation into a 9-1-1 call reporting a domestic dispute at a North Bay residence, North Bay Police arrested and charged a 45-year old North Bay man with:
- Three counts of assault with a weapon;
- One count of mischief under $5,000;
- One count of utter threats to cause bodily harm;
- One count of assault; and
- One count of fail to provide the necessaries of life.
It is alleged that in the morning of April 29th, 2017, following a verbal dispute between the accused and his female partner in their shared residence, the accused threw an unknown object at her, which struck her and caused her pain.
It is alleged that on June 19th, 2017, following another verbal argument between the couple in the same residential setting, the accused threw a framed photograph against the wall, which caused the frame to shatter. He then threatened to harm a person close to the victim.
It is alleged that on June 24th, 2017, following another verbal argument between the two in their shared residence, the accused threw a shoe and a roll of toilet paper at her. He then physically assaulted her, causing her pain.
It is also alleged that for a number of days, the accused deprived the victim of food in their home.
Following his arrest at their shared residence, the accused was transported to police headquarters and held in custody for a bail hearing.
In the interest of protecting the identity of the victim, the North Bay Police Service will not be releasing the name of the accused.
