Two men face assault charges
Yesterday evening, North Bay Police were dispatched to the 300 block of Sixth Avenue West following a call from a dispatcher of a local taxi company reporting trouble involving one of their drivers. Following an investigation, North Bay Police arrested and charged:
Jason Robert Hansman, age 34, of North Bay with:
- One count of assault;
- One count of assault police officer; and
- Two counts of breach of probation.
Police also arrested and charged a 32-year old North Bay man with one count of assault.
It is alleged that on Thursday, November 17th, 2016, shortly after 9 p.m., the accused assaulted the taxi driver while they were in his taxi. The taxi driver was not injured. Three patrol officers were immediately dispatched to the site, where they located both suspects, outside the taxi. It is also alleged that Hansman assaulted an officer during his arrest.
Hansman was held in custody pending a bail hearing, while the co-accused was released from custody with a court date scheduled for December 27th, 2016.
It is the North Bay Police Service’s policy to release the names of adults who are held in custody following an assault charge.
