Man faces sexual assault charges

Following an investigation into a sexual assault complaint that was reported to police on the evening of Tuesday August 23rd, 2016, North Bay Police arrested a 69-year old man at his North Bay residence on August 25th, 2016 and charged him with:

  • One count of sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age; and
  • One count of sexual interference with a person under 16 years of age.

It is alleged that between July 3rd and August 23rd, 2016, while the accused was taking care of a child in his residence and in a public park, he touched the child inappropriately.

The accused and the victim are known to each other.

In the interest of protecting the victim’s identity, the North Bay Police Service will not be releasing the name of the accused, who was released from custody with a court date scheduled for October 11th, 2016.

Man faces sexual assault charges

Yesterday afternoon, following an investigation into a report of sexual assaults, North Bay Police arrested and charged:

Peter Leo Joseph Carriere, age 62, of North Bay with:

  • Two counts of sexual assault on a person under 16; and
  • Two counts of sexual interference with a person under 16.

It is alleged that the accused inappropriately touched two children, previously unknown to him, while they were at Lake Nipissing’s waterfront on August 31st, 2016.

Following his arrest near the site of the alleged occurrence, the accused was taken into custody and held for a bail hearing.
