Weekend Occurrences

Over the weekend, the North Bay Police Service responded to 224 calls for service and arrested and charged eight people with the following offences:

  • One person was charged with one count of break, enter and commit; one count of domestic assault, one count of domestic mischief and one count of criminal harassment;
  • One person was charged with one count of weapons dangerous, one count of carry concealed weapon and one count of breach of probation;
  • One person was charged with four counts of unlawful use of credit card and one count of possession of property obtained by crime;
  • One person was charged with four counts of unlawful use of credit card; one count of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of possession of marijuana;
  • Three people were charged with public intoxication; and
  • One person was charged with impaired driving, and drive over 80.

Man faces charges for domestic assault, mischief, criminal harassment, and break & enter

Following an investigation into a criminal harassment complaint reported to police on Sunday night, North Bay Police arrested and charged:

A 30-year old North Bay man with:

  • one count of break, enter and commit;
  • one count of domestic assault;
  • one count of domestic mischief; and
  • one count of criminal harassment.

It is alleged that on Sunday, April 10th, 2016, the accused forced entry into his ex-girlfriend’s residence. A verbal argument between the two turned violent when the accused hit her and damaged items inside the residence. The accused subsequently left the residence.

It is also alleged that between 2:52 p.m. and 10:26 p.m. later that day, the accused called the victim and sent her texts several times. He also drove by the victim’s residence several times, honking his horn and yelling obscenities at the victim, and he threw garbage items from his vehicle at the victim’s residence. Police arrested the accused at his residence shortly before midnight that evening.

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.

North Bay man faces weapon charges

Following an investigation into a 911 call regarding an unknown man with a knife reported to police shortly on Sunday afternoon, North Bay Police arrested and charged:

A 28-year old North Bay man with:

  • one count of possession of weapon for dangerous purpose;
  • one count of carrying concealed weapon; and
  • one count of breach of probation.

It is alleged that on Sunday April 10th, 2016, at approximately 3:25 p.m., the accused, while he was on foot, approached two pedestrians on the 600 block of Cassells Street, pulled out a knife and showed it them. The two fled the area unharmed.

Police located the accused on Cassells Street shortly thereafter, where he was arrested and searched, and seized a 6″ blade kitchen knife as evidence.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Two face charges for unlawful use of credit card and possession of stolen property

Following an investigation into a theft complaint reported to police at 8:36 a.m. on Sunday morning, North Bay Police arrested and charged:

A 38-year old North Bay woman with:

  • four counts of unlawful use of credit card;
  • one count of possession of property obtained by crime; and
  • one count of possession of marijuana.

A 54-year old North Bay man with:

  • four counts of unlawful use of credit card; and
  • one count of possession of property obtained by crime.

It is alleged that on Sunday April 10th, 2016 the two accused were in possession of a purse that was stolen from a local hotel and that contained credit cards, which they used to purchase two gift cards, perfume and cigarettes. Police located and arrested them on McLeod and High Streets at 8:42 a.m. that morning. A search following the arrested revealed that the woman was in possession of a small quantity of marijuana.

The two accused were released from custody with court dates scheduled for Tuesday, May 24th, 2016.
