Man faces charges for break & enter with intent assault and assault with a weapon

Following an investigation into a report of a fight taking place outside on Douglas Street early this morning, North Bay Police arrested and charged:

Richard Daniel Leroux, age 46, of North Bay:

  • One count of break and enter with intent;
  • One count of assault; and
  • One count of assault with a weapon.

It is alleged that in the early morning hours of Friday March 18th, 2016, the accused broke into his neighbour’s unit, hit the male occupant inside and then left the unit. After the victim exited the residential building shortly thereafter, the accused, now outside, raised a hammer towards the victim, who ran away unharmed. Police arrived to investigate shortly thereafter and arrested the accused at the scene. Police seized a hammer as evidence.

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
