Three face charges for robbery
Following an investigation into a report of a robbery that took place in early January in a residential unit in North Bay, North Bay Police have arrested the following three men:
- Cory Peterson, age 48
- Steven William Wonta, age 54
- Blaine Mervin Chicquen-Sabourin, age 35
All three men are from North Bay and all face the following six charges:
- One count of break, enter & commit;
- One count of point firearm;
- One count of utter threats to cause death;
- One count of extortion with firearm;
- One count of robbery with firearm; and
- One count of forcible confinement.
Cory Peterson also faces one count of breach of probation.
The victims of these crimes are three males who were all roommates, living in an apartment on Fisher Street at the time. The victims and the accused are known to each other.
It is alleged that sometime between January 2nd and 6th, 2016, the accused forced their way into the apartment, exposed an alleged handgun, demanded cash, threatened the victims, and confined them to the apartment for about three hours before leaving the premises with a television and a DVD recorder belonging to the victims.
On Monday, January 11th, 2016 at 3:15 p.m., North Bay Police arrested Cory Peterson and Blaine Chicquen-Sabourin on Worthington Street West. Later that day, at 5 p.m., officers arrested Steven Wonta on Worthington Street West.
All three accused were held in custody for a bail hearing yesterday.
