Distracted Driving Traffic Enforcement Initiative

A plain clothes police officer partnered with a patrol officer to conduct a distracted driving traffic enforcement blitz at John and McIntyre in North Bay earlier today.

In the span of 90 minutes, five drivers were issued provincial offence notices for distracted driving, of which:
• Four drivers were stopped at a red light while using a mobile device;
• Three drivers were observed to be texting;
• One driver was holding a mobile device;
• One driver was taking a photograph with a mobile device.

The North Bay Police Service reminds drivers that the fine for distracted driving is $490, which includes the victim surcharge and court costs.
