Weekend Occurrences

Over the weekend, the North Bay Police Service responded to 219 calls for service, and arrested and charged seven people with the following offences:

  • One person was charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of breach of probation;
  • One person was charged with impaired driving; driving over 80 and three counts of breach of recognizance;
  • One person was charged with one count of assault with a weapon; one count of assault; and one count of uttering threats;
  • One person was charged with one count of impaired driving, one count of driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood and one count of possession of marijuana;
  • Two people were charged with public intoxication;
  • One person was charged with breach of recognizance.

UPDATE: Police seek public’s assistance in locating unidentified female

The following is an update to Twitter communication from @NorthBayPolice over the weekend.

Shortly after 7 p.m. on Sunday October 25th, a concerned citizen contacted police to report that a young female either jumped or was pushed out of a parked pick-up truck at the corner of Beattie and Bloem. The citizen, who was walking her dog at the time, approached her to ask if she needed help because she appeared injured. She refused assistance and was last observed walking towards Algonquin on Bloem. The vehicle left towards Jane Street.

North Bay Police are looking to speak to the female, described as:

  • White
  • Aged between 16 and 18 years old
  • Shoulder-length straight blonde or bleached hair
  • 5’6″-5’7″
  • Slim build; approximately 100 lbs
  • Last seen wearing a pink t-shirt, blue jeans, white hooded rain jacket

North Bay Police are also looking to speak to the driver of a vehicle described as:

  • Older “scruffy” pickup truck
  • Without a canopy or cover
  • Dark in colour, possibly black

UPDATE: Arson investigation – Public’s assistance sought

The following is an update to Twitter communication from @NorthBayPolice over the weekend.

Shortly after 3 a.m. on Sunday October 25th, 2015, while on patrol, police witnessed and put out a fire in the interior of a 2011 blue Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck that was parked on Norwood Avenue.

The investigation continues.

UPDATE: Barrie woman faces charges for assault with a weapon

The following is an update to a news release the Service issued on Sunday October 25th, 2015.

North Bay Police arrested and charged Katelynn Yakeley, age 25, of Barrie, Ontario with:

  • One count of assault with a weapon; and
  • One count of breach of probation.

It is alleged that shortly after 7 p.m. on Saturday (October 24th 2015) during a social gathering at a residence on Worthington Street West, an argument between the accused and a female victim turned violent when the accused stabbed the victim with a kitchen knife.

The accused was held in custody for bail.

The victim was taken to hospital, treated and released.

Concerned citizen reports suspected impaired driver

Shortly before noon on Friday October 23rd, a concerned citizen contacted police to report a suspected impaired driver she observed get into his vehicle in a parking lot on Algonquin Avenue. Following an investigation, North Bay Police arrested and charged the 37-year old male driver near his place of residence with:

  • One count of impaired driving;
  • One count of driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood; and
  • Three counts of breach of recognizance.

The accused was released from custody with a court date scheduled for November.

The North Bay Police Service thanks the complainant for reporting this incident to police.

Domestic dispute leads to charges

Following an investigation into a report of a domestic assault, North Bay Police arrested and charged an 18-year old Callander woman with:

  • One count of assault with a weapon;
  • One count of uttering threats; and
  • One count of assault.

It is alleged that at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Friday evening (October 23rd, 2015) a verbal argument between the accused and her common law spouse in their North Bay residence turned violent when the accused physically assaulted the victim and threatened him with an edged weapon.

The accused was released from custody with a court date scheduled for November 3rd, 2015.

The victim did not require medical treatment as a result of this altercation.

Driver faces impaired driving charge following MVC

Following an investigation into a motor vehicle collision that took place in North Bay on Friday evening, North Bay Police arrested and charged a 36-year old Callander man with:

  • One count of impaired driving;
  • One count of driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in blood; and
  • One count of possession of marijuana.

It is alleged that at approximately 11:10 p.m. on Friday October 23rd, the accused, who was travelling westbound on Highway 17 East, turned right onto O’Brien Street, where he struck a telephone pole. Police were subsequently dispatched to the scene of the collision, where the arrest was made.

The accused was released from custody with a court date scheduled for November 3rd, 2015.
