Two Brampton youths face robbery charges
North Bay Police have arrested and charged two youths this morning, following a call received at 7:40 p.m. yesterday about a male teen who had been pepper-sprayed and subsequently transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A 17-year old female from Brampton has been charged with:
• One count of robbery with weapon; and
• One count of public mischief.
A 16-year old female from Brampton has been charged with:
• One count of robbery with theft.
It is alleged that at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Thursday September 3rd, 2015, the two teens went to the bush area between Mariah Court and Harris Drive to meet a male victim, who had pre-arranged to meet them to sell them a small quantity of suspected marijuana. On arrival, one of the accused pepper-sprayed him and, after stealing the suspected marijuana from him, both accused fled the scene.
Following an investigation, which included the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police North Bay Detachment’s canine unit, North Bay Police located and arrested both accused at a West Ferris residence at 1:50 a.m. this morning.
While being interviewed by North Bay Police following her arrest, it is alleged that the first accused provided a false statement to police about the incident. As a result, she also faces the charge of public mischief.
Both accused were held in custody for bail hearings today.
