In the early hours of Saturday the 26th of September 2015, the North Bay Police Service received a cruelty to animal and mischief complaint. A male suspect was identified, located and taken into custody. The subsequent investigation linked the same male as being responsible for several recent criminal offences in North Bay, including the breaking of a window at M.P.P. Vic Fedeli’s Main Street office, the igniting of a fire to a West Ferris residence and the igniting of a fire to the Omond Memorial United Church on McKenzie Avenue.
The 19 year old male in custody has been charged with 5 counts of mischief under $5000, 1 count of mischief over $5000, 1 count of cruelty to animals, 1 count of criminal harassment, 1 count of arson causing damage to property and 1 count of arson with a disregard for human life. The accused is being held in custody, pending a bail hearing. The name of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of a victim.
On the morning of Sunday the 27th of September 2015, uniform officers of the North Bay Police Service located and seized 4 mature marijuana plants growing in the back yard of a Callander residence. A 43 year old male of Callander was charged with the production of a controlled substance and is to appear in court at a future date.
