Five people face drug-related charges

Cocaine, Oxycodone, Marijuana and approx. $50,000-$60,000 in cash seized

On Wednesday August 19th, 2015, following a Street Crime Unit observation of a suspected drug transaction between two people that took place at approximately 4 p.m. on Lakeshore Drive at Premier Road and the execution of two Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrants at a Main Street West apartment and a Lakeshore Drive apartment, North Bay Police arrested and charged five people.

Eric Robert Weckwerth, age 31, of North Bay, who was held in custody for bail was charged with:
• count of trafficking a controlled substance (cocaine);
• one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine);
• one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking (Oxycodone); and
• one count of possession of property obtained by crime (currency).

Jessica P. Betts, age 24, of North Bay, who was held in custody for a bail hearing, was charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine).

At approximately 4:50 p.m. yesterday, while the North Bay Police Service was waiting for the search warrant of the Lakeshore Drive apartment to be issued, police observed three people attempt to leave the premises in motor vehicles. Following an investigation, police arrested and charged three people.

Andrew Kenneth John Broadhead, age 30, of North Bay, who was held in custody pending a bail hearing, was charged with:
• one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine);
• one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking (Oxycodone);
• one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking (marijuana);
• one count of possession of property obtained by crime; and
• one count of breach of recognizance.

Tiffany Caldwell, age 28, of North Bay, who was held in custody pending a bail hearing, was charged with:
• one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine);
• one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking (Oxycodone);
• one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking (marijuana); and
• one count of possession of property obtained by crime.

Ana Elizabeth Butler, age 27, of North Bay, who was held in custody pending a bail hearing, was charged with:
• one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine);
• one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking (Oxycodone);
• one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking (marijuana); and
• one count of possession of property obtained by crime.

As a result of this investigation, North Bay Police seized the following as evidence:
• 235.5 grams of cocaine;
• 102 Oxycodone pills;
• 35.3 grams of cannabis marijuana; and
• seven bundles of Canadian currency (yet to be reconciled) valued between $50,000 to $60,000.

The street value of the drugs seized is estimated at $44,000.
