Break & enter leads to charges
Following an investigation into a break and enter that occurred at approximately 3:28 a.m. on Tuesday August 11th at a downtown coffee shop and a review of video surveillance footage that captured the incident, North Bay Police arrested and charged Richard Layton, age 43, of no fixed address with:
- One count of break, enter and commit; and
- One count of theft under $5000.
It is alleged that the accused damaged the building when he forced his way into the premises and stole cash. Police located the accused at approximately 10:26 a.m. on Wednesday on Front Street, where he was arrested.
The accused was held in custody awaiting a bail hearing today.
