North Bay man charged for trafficking suspected crack cocaine
Shortly after 10 a.m. yesterday morning, a police officer with the North Bay Police Service’s Street Crime unit observed a female driver and a male passenger engage in a suspected drug transaction in a vehicle parked in a parking lot on Oak Street.
Police arrested the female driver and, following a search that revealed that she was in possession of suspected crack cocaine, police charged the 37-year old North Bay woman with one count of possession of a controlled substance.
While the woman was placed under arrest, the male suspect exited the vehicle. Police attempted to place him under arrest but he fled the scene on foot. After a short foot pursuit, he was arrested. Police seized $80 in Canadian currency from him following a search after the arrest.
North Bay Police charged Calvin William Larondeau, age 26 of North Bay, with:
• one count of trafficking crack cocaine;
• one count of possession of property obtained by crime; and
• one count of breach of probation.
Both accused were held in custody overnight awaiting a bail hearing today.
