Weekend Occurrences

Over the weekend, North Bay Police responded to 202 calls for service, and arrested and charged 17 people with the following offences:
• One person was charged one count of trafficking crystal meth, one count of trafficking marijuana, five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking (crystal meth, marijuana, cannabis resin, morphine and cocaine); and one count of possession of property obtained by crime;
• One person was charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking (crystal meth and marijuana) and two counts of possession of a controlled substance (marijuana and oxycodone)
• One person was charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking (crystal meth and marijuana);
• One person was charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking crack cocaine, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, one count of possession of property obtained by crime.
• One person was charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, one count of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of breach of probation
• One person was charged with one count of robbery, one count of assault causing bodily harm and two counts of assault;
• One person was charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm, one count of uttering threats, one count of assault with a weapon and one count of breach of probation;
• One person was charged with assault, uttering threats and breach of probation following a domestic dispute;
• One person was charged with assault and uttering threats following a domestic dispute;
• One person was charged with three counts of assault following a domestic dispute;
• One person was charged with one count of mischief under $5000 following a family dispute;
• Two persons were charged with public intoxication;
• One person was charged with public intoxication and two counts of breach of probation;
• One person was charged with impaired driving and drive over 80 mg;
• One person was charged with mischief under $5000; and
• One person was charged with theft under $5000 and breach of probation.

Three North Bay residents face drug charges

On Sunday March 15th at approximately 9:30 p.m., following an ongoing drug trafficking investigation by the North Bay Police Street Crime Unit, police executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence on the 500 block Worthington Street East.

As a result, North Bay Police arrested and charged the following people:

Allen Fernand Leblanc, age 55, of North Bay, was charged with:
• One count of trafficking methamphetamine pills;
• One count of trafficking marijuana;
• Five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine pills, marijuana, cannabis resin, morphine and cocaine); and
• One count of possession of property obtained by crime.

Justine Louise Else, age 27, both from North Bay, was charged with:
• Two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine pills and marijuana); and
• Two counts of possession of a controlled substance (marijuana and oxycodone)

James Allen Butcher, age 33, of North Bay, was charged with:
• Two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (crystal meth and marijuana)

As a result of the search of the residence, North Bay Police seized:
• 960 grams cannabis marihuana;
• 1908 methamphetamine pills;
• 50 hydromorphone pills;
• 30 grams of cocaine;
• 23 grams of cannabis resin; and
• 243 grams of marijuana.

The estimated street value of the combined drugs is valued at approximately $37,500. Police also seized $22,000 in Canadian currency and a motor vehicle.

Leblanc was held in custody for bail while Else and Butcher were released with a court date scheduled for April 21, 2015.

Two face charges following Street Crime Unit investigation

Shortly before midnight on Friday March 13th, following an ongoing drug trafficking investigation by the North Bay Police Street Crime Unit, police executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence on Rowe Avenue.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged:

Dale Joseph Rivers, age 52, of North Bay with:
• One count of possession for the purpose of trafficking crack cocaine;
• Three counts of possession of a controlled substance;
• One count of possession of property obtained by crime.

Jessica Betts, age 24, of no fixed address with:
• One count of possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine;
• Three counts of possession of a controlled substance
• One count of possession of property obtained by crime;
• One count of breach of probation

As a result of the search of the residence, North Bay Police seized:
• 146.6 grams of crack cocaine;
• 4.7 grams of marijuana;
• three oxycodone pills;
• 20 clonazepam pills; and
• 2.5 methamphetamine (ice) pills.

The estimated street value of the combined drugs is valued at approximately $11,500. Police also seized $10,000 in Canadian currency. Both accused were held in custody pending bail.

Robbery

On Friday March 13th at 9:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a home invasion at an apartment on First Avenue East. Three males entered the apartment, viciously assaulted a male occupant and then left in a vehicle before police arrived.

The victim was transported to hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, North Bay Police arrested Todd Archie Myra, age 53, at his North Bay residence at approximately 10 p.m. He was charged with:
• One count of robbery;
• One count of assault causing bodily harm; and
• Two counts of assault.

The accused, who is known to the victim, was held in custody for bail.

The investigation is ongoing.

North Bay man faces charged following family dispute

North Bay Police responded to a report of an assault that took place between two family members on Friday March 13th at approximately 6:45 a.m. in a downtown apartment.

As a result of the investigation, police charged a 27-year old North Bay man with:
• One count of assault causing bodily harm;
• One count of uttering threats;
• One count of assault with an edged weapon; and
• One count of breach of probation.

The accused was held in custody for bail.

The victim was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

In order to protect the identity of the victim, North Bay Police will not be releasing the name of the accused.
