Police from across Ontario meeting in North Bay today
Chiefs of Police, Deputy Chiefs of Police and senior officers from across Ontario are in North Bay today for an Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) Board meeting. Issues being discussed include the cost of service delivery, justice reform, as well as legislative and regulatory changes to the Police Services Act.
“It is always a pleasure to welcome OACP board members to our great city,” said Chief Paul Cook, North Bay Police Service and Past-President of the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (2013-14). “We are equally pleased that they will be here to support the 2015 Special Olympics Ontario Winter Games, the charity of choice for police in Ontario.”
Tomorrow, other Chiefs of Police and Deputy Chiefs of Police, as well as Government of Ontario officials, will join the OACP Board members for another day-long meeting to discuss the future of policing, community safety plans, and changes to the Police Services Act.
