Assaults and Break and Enter

Over the weekend the North Bay Police responded to 222 calls for service that resulted in 9 arrests. Offences included assault with a weapon, assault, domestic assault, impaired driving, thefts, warrants executed, breach of court orders, and public intoxication.

Assault with a Weapon
On Sunday April 6th at approximately 2 am, North Bay Police responded to call from a residence in Callander, which resulted in four offences. Johnathan Stripay, age 28 of Callander is accused of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, threatening to cause bodily harm and assault. It is alleged that during an altercation on the street, he punched one male victim. Later, he attended another male victim’s residence where he pulled a butcher knife and challenged him to a fight. After returning home, the accused called the second male victim again and threatened him with bodily harm. North Bay Police arrested the accused at his residence at 1:16 pm on April 6th. He was held in custody for a bail hearing. Cst. Christian Elia is investigating.

Assault Bodily Harm
On April 5th at 1:55 am, an altercation in a north end bar resulted in one man slamming another man’s head into the counter of the bar causing the victim bodily harm. A North Bay Police investigation has resulted in the arrest of Nickolas Laporte, age 24, of Lisgar Street. He has been charged with assault causing bodily harm and is to appear in court on Tuesday, May 13th, 2014. Cst. Mark McLeod is investigating.

Break, Enter and Theft
On April 5th, at 9:21 pm, a Lakeshore Drive resident returned to his home after being away for three days and found that entry had been gained through a bedroom window. Items stolen include 275 blue ray movies, a 44-inch Sony television, a play station 4 and a small gray safe containing an undisclosed amount cash. Cst. Penny Kerr is investigating.

Break and Enter
At approximately 4 pm on April 5th, a woman returned to her Wyld Street home and encountered a man on her front porch leaving her residence. The man fled. When the woman entered her home she found that it had been completely ransacked. The suspect was described as a white bald or partly bald male. Cst. Dan Shepstone is investigating.
